A quick update on where we are at Initiative Q and the path ahead:
Over recent months, we have been working hard on advancing Initiative Q on several fronts:
We released the Initiative Q mobile app - the first element of our future payment system. Hundreds of thousands of users have already installed it.
Under Professor Larry White’s leadership, we have assembled an Economic Advisory Board with renowned economists, to assist Initiative Q on economic and monetary matters as we get closer to launch.
Now that the dust has settled, the media has had time to take a deeper look at us, resulting in many positive articles, validating the Initiative Q vision, as well as recognizing the shortcomings of existing payment systems that Initiative Q attempts to solve (see previous posts or the press section on our homepage).
In order to make Initiative Q a reality, our number one focus has always been on gathering more support in the way of user registration. In order to overcome the high adoption barrier posed by traditional payment methods such as credit cards, we must assemble a critical mass of users to get started.
While millions have signed up from all over the globe, we are still a long way from the minimum goal of 30 million users we estimate is needed as a critical mass to launch the payment network. In fact, we are still a tad short of 10 million users.
Therefore, we would like to make a renewed appeal to our supporters to invite new users. Adding even just a couple of friends would be great. Consider friends who may have been skeptical in the past or just didn’t get around to it. Share the recent research articles about us and the news about the prestigious economists supporting us. Remind your friends that we are offering a great new vision for modern payment systems that they can help make a reality at no risk for them.
In parallel, we are starting to solicit interest from sellers who would like to be early beta participants in the Initiative Q network. Beta participants will be able to accept Qs in exchange for goods or services, but will initially only be able to use those Qs with other participating sellers. At this early stage, this would probably make sense for sellers looking for exposure to Initiative Q’s large user base, or sellers operating at high profit margins who can sustain the liquidity risk.
