Adidas is continuing its path into the metaverse and non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles as the firm announced it has partnered with Ready Player Me on Tuesday. Basically, Ready Player Me is a cross-application avatar platform designed specifically for the metaverse.

Ready Player Me’s technology allows people to explore different virtual metaverse worlds with a single identity. The platform Adidas Originals is launching is linked to the company’s latest Ozworld shoe release. The personality based AI generated avatar creation platform aims to launch on April 8, 2022.

The futuristic sneakers bearing the name Ozworld were originally launched in the nineties and featured a dynamic adiprene cushioned outsole and upper. By partnering with Ready Player Me fans will be able to create metaverse avatars that utilize the Adidas Ozworld brand.

“Each unique avatar will be able to traverse the web through a bespoke partnership with Ready Player Me,” Adidas said on Tuesday. “This is the first brand partnership that pushes the limits of the platform – offering interoperability in generative avatars with over 1,500 different metaverse apps and games.”

Adidas has been testing the NFT waters with a lot of different ideas as the company revealed it had partnered with Coinbase and The Sandbox at the end of November 2021. The following month in December, Adidas collaborated with the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT project.

After that, Adidas Originals launched an NFT collection with Punks Comics, Gmoney, and the BAYC project. The company’s Adidas Originals NFT compilation has also been a top NFT project in terms of sales volume.

The sneaker and sportswear giant will launch the personality based AI generated avatar creation platform on April 8. Adiclub members and Adidas NFT holders will gain early access to the metaverse and on April 28, the avatars’ first installment will launch.
