Bored Ape Yacht Club Donates $1 Million in Ethereum to Ukraine Following Community Efforts


On March 8, the team behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) donated $1 million in ethereum to the Ukraine government’s ether wallet. The BAYC team donated the funds in order to match BAYC community members that raised nearly $1 million in donations to Ukraine as well. At the time of writing, statistics stemming from seven different crypto donation programs indicate that $40.58 million worth of Ethereum-based digital assets have been donated to Ukraine. The Ukraine crypto donations tracker hosted on Dune Analytics has recorded donations that are being sent to government addresses, the Ukraine DAO, the RELI3F.xyz NFT sale, Endaoment, Unchain Fund, Come Back Alive, and Ukrainedao.eth donations.


Another Ukraine crypto donations tracker, powered by Merkle Science, has recorded $90.55 billion in aggregate crypto donations to date. The Merkle Science tracker shows donations in tokens such as bitcoin (BTC), dogecoin (DOGE), polygon (MATIC), BNB, SOL, DOT, and NEAR.


On Tuesday, the offifcial Twitter account for the popular non-fungible token (NFT) project Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) tweeted that it donated $1 million in ethereum (ETH) to the Ukraine government’s ether address. The BAYC team also shared the blockchain explorer (etherscan.io) link that shows the transaction.


“It’s been inspiring seeing our community come together in support of Ukraine – almost $1 [million] in ETH has been donated to @Ukraine by wallets containing a BAYC ecosystem NFT,” the official BAYC Twitter account wrote. “Today we’re matching that with a $1 [million] ETH donation of our own.”


Bored Ape Yacht Club is a popular NFT project that has seen significant demand during the last 12 months. All-time statistics from dappradar.com indicate that BAYC is the fifth-largest NFT project by sales volume with $1.4 billion to date.


The current floor price for the cheapest BAYC NFT is $204,840 or 74.64 ETH. The aggregate number of BAYC NFTs in existence have a market capitalization of $2.04 billion today. According to the Merkle Science tracker, donations made in Ethereum-based assets represent roughly 40.8% and bitcoin (BTC) donations capture 28.7% at the time of writing.
